OK GO " This too shall pass" Directed by James Frost

Kings of the viral music video OK GO have created another superb video Directed by James Frost. I'm not yet if it's a one take wonder, but it sure looks like it.

I must admit though, the thought of another mouse trap style video filled me with dread, but this one is pulled off with such style and seemless camera work that it's a joy to watch.

I'll be sure to post a making of if i can find one. Enjoy.

Chris Cairns " neurosonics" goes live

After director Chris Cairns success with his short "Neurosonics" for Tony Vegas and Plus One (featured below) he has moved one step further, by bringing it to life in the real world thanks to the guys at Musion (The guys who brought the Gorillaz to life on stage a few years ago.) There is no post production added in this video you see what the audience sees.

The Sniper Twins

Taking a pinch of what the guys over at Lovely island have done with such classics as dick in a box, The Sniper Twins are bringing their take on the mock rap video to the world. The production value on this is great, i'm still unsure if it's Hershey funded or not. If it is then good for them as not many brands would have the balls to do this.

Hot Chip " One night stand" Directed by Roel Wouters

I was away at the end of last year in Singapore (i know get me) so didn't catch this beaut of a video. It's director Roel Wouters is a graphic designer who has moved into doing music video in the last few years. You may remember the killer video he did for ZZZ is playing : grip.

It was so good Fiat ripped it off on an advert for the Grande Punto (Which he turned down directing duties on. Funny that!)

It's an incredible simple video using trampoliners, balls, and a load of texted ticker tape (that classic promo directors staple)

Anyway in this he again uses a very simple technique of a single mirrored ball which acts as our lens on the band. The band seem to be having a laugh too which is nice, rather than the cliche of having a load of moody band members.

Chromeo “Night By Night” video

Just saw this on vid on A-Traks blog (DMC champ at 15) so thought i should post it. It seems that the 1980's generation is really starting to take over the creative sphere, first we had the Justice vs Lenny Kravitz video by Kieth Schofield and now this piece of 80's movie nostalgia by Director Jeremie Rozan.

Garth Jennings directs Vampire Weekend

I haven't seen a video by Garth Jennings for a while now, not since he directed the wonderful Son Of Ranbow.

In this he takes a simple camera move mixes it with a spot of performance and a large helping of confetti to get a sweet video that is much great than the sum of its parts.

look out for the face masks turning into faces it's inspired.

Keith Schofield - Charlotte Gainsbourg and Beck "Heaven Can Wait"

Great new video from Keith Schofield, it doesn't have a "twist" concept like most of his videos but every beautifully shot frame feels as if it has been plucked from a bizarre indie film. I intend to do a bit of a retrospect on Mr schofield in the near future as he has a great body of work.

Well, this is it then. After being away from blogging for a while I've decide to jump back on horse and start again as i explore the wonderful world of Directing.

I'm not really sure where this journey will take me but i intent to use this blog as a record of that journey where ever it does lead me.

I have a few projects on the go at the moment, one is a Promo for a wonderful guy called Ali Love. The other is a short film which I'm currently writing the script for with a good friend of mine Rory. ( Hello Rory)

The promo is for a track called Smoke and mirrors. The video should be in the bag soon i hope. ( In the mean time I've put up some shots to give you a little sneak peak of the style)

Along with the usual blog ramblings i hope to upload a whole plethora of videos, from music,animation,short films and telly ads.( Only good ones mind you)
